Grove City ties with Saint Vincent, 1-1

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team is now 4-5-4 after battling visiting Saint Vincent to a 1-1, double-overtime draw at College Field Friday afternoon.

Grove City grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first half as junior Matt Sol (Crofton, Md./South River) scored at 26:05. It is Sol's second goal of the season. The Wolverines carried the shutout into the second half but Saint Vincent (4-7-3) tied the match at 82:35 on an unassisted goal by Luis Rodriguez.

Grove City held a 34-12 advantage in shots, along with a 9-3 edge in corner kicks. Senior Michael Manahan (State College, Pa./State College) stopped seven shots to preserve the tie.

The Wolverines are now 1-1-4 in overtime this season. The program record for overtime matches in one season is seven, set in 2003. Grove City is 2-0-2 in its last four matches overall.

Grove City will play its annual Alumni Match Saturday at 10:30 a.m. as part of Homecoming Weekend. The Wolverines return to intercollegiate play Tuesday at Thomas More at 4 p.m.
