Westminster tops Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team fell to 1-3-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 home setback against Westminster in a PAC match at College Field. The loss eliminates Grove City from contention for one of the four spots in the season-ending PAC Championship Tournament.

Grove City forged a 1-1 tie in the first half as senior Chad Ashby (High Point, N.C./Wesleyan Academy) scored an unassisted goal at 38:26. However, Westminster (9-5-3, 4-0-1) scored twice in the second half to seal the win. Justin Flowers scored an unassisted goal at the 56-minute mark while Garrett Horvath added his second goal of the day at 61:12.

Horvath also scored at 5:26 to put the Titans up 1-0. Westminster owned a 22-13 edge in shots. The Titans also had seven corner kicks, compared to two for Grove City.

Senior goalkeeper Michael Manahan (State College, Pa./State College) stopped nine shots for Grove City (4-8-4).

Grove City will visit Geneva Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in Beaver Falls.
