Wolverines earn 2-0 win at Geneva

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team snapped a three-game slide Wednesday night by earning a 2-0 victory at Geneva in a clash of Presidents' Athletic Conference members at the Merriman Soccer Complex.

Freshman Jake Kern (Fairfield, Pa./Fairfield) gave Grove City (5-8-4) a quick 1-0 lead as he scored his third goal of the season at 3:06. Classmate Dave Larkin (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) assisted Kern's goal.

Grove City extended the lead to 2-0 at 50:48 as sophomore Sean Osborne (Manassas, Va./Osbourne) registered his second goal of 2007. Junior Matt Sol (Crofton, Md./South River) assisted Osborne's goal.

Senior goalkeeper Michael Manahan (State College, Pa./State College) stopped three shots to record the shutout. It is Manahan's 23rd career shutout.

Grove City outshot Geneva (11-6), 13-9. Each team had four corner kicks. The Wolverines played the final 25:47 of the match with just 10 men after Larkin received a red card.

Grove City concludes the 2007 season Saturday at Thiel at 1 p.m.
