Grove City earns draw
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team is now 0-1-1 on the 2008 season after battling visiting Mount Saint Joseph to a 1-1, double-overtime draw at College Field Saturday afternoon.
Grove City trailed 1-0 at the half but forged a tie at 74:03 as freshman Adam Brewer (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) headed in a cross from junior Sean Osborne (Manassas, Va./Osbourn). It is Brewer's first collegiate goal and Osborne's second career assist.
Grove City out-shot the Lions, 31-6, including a 21-2 edge over the final 65 minutes of the match. Grove City also had a 14-2 edge in corner kicks.
Junior goalkeeper Tim Lansing (Albany, N.Y./Loudonville Christian) made one save for Grove City. Mount Saint Joseph goalkeeper Austin Campbell stopped 15 shots.
The Lions took a 1-0 lead at 28:08 on Andrew Brockman's unassisted goal.
Grove City is 7-1-14 in its last 22 overtime matches, dating back to 2003.
Grove City returns to action next Friday, September 5 against Capital University at Ohio Wesleyan. The Wolverines will then play Ohio Wesleyan Saturday night in Delaware, Ohio.
