Case clips Wolverines

CLEVELAND -- Host Case Western Reserve scored three second-half goals Saturday night on its way to a 4-1 victory over Grove City College in non-conference men's soccer action at Case Field.

Grove City fell behind 1-0 in the 6th minute as Case Western's R.J. French scored an unassisted goal at 5:24. The Wolverines tied the match at 37:10 as sophomore Evan Moore (Biglerville, Pa./Biglerville) scored his first goal of the season.

However, Case Western broke the match open in the second half. Vinny Bell scored at 48:05 and then scored again at 57:05. Jordan Fox closed the scoring with a goal at 61:40. Bell assisted Fox's goal.

Junior Sean Osborne (Manassas, Va./Osbourn) stopped five shots in goal for Grove City. Case Western owned a 17-5 edge in shots, including a 6-0 advantage in the second half. Grove City did own a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Grove City (1-7-2) will return to action next Saturday, October 4. The Wolverines will open Presidents' Athletic Conference play against visiting Thiel at 2:30 p.m.
