Grove City improves to 2-0 in PAC
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team improved to 2-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Tuesday afternoon with a 2-0 victory over visiting Bethany in a PAC match at College Field. It is Grove City's second straight shutout victory.
Grove City took an early 1-0 lead at 11:18 as senior Bob Terhune (East Stroudsburg, Pa./North Warren, N.J.) scored an unassisted goal from approximately 20 yards out. It is Terhune's second goal of the season and his second game-winner in as many matches.
The Wolverines added an insurance goal at 86:15 as sophomore Jake Kern (Fairfield, Pa./Fairfield) scored his second goal of the season.
Junior goalkeeper Sean Osborne (Manassas, Va./Osbourn) stopped four shots to earn his third shutout of the season. Grove City owned a 21-12 edge in shots. The Wolverines also possessed a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The back-to-back shutouts are Grove City's first consecutive blankings since holding Washington & Jefferson and Thiel scoreless in consecutive matches Oct. 21-24, 2006.
Grove City (3-7-2 overall) is 2-0 in the PAC for the first time since 2003. The Wolverines will look for their third straight win Saturday afternoon at Waynesburg. The conference match begins at 4:45 p.m.
