NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team fell to 3-2-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Tuesday night with a 1-0 setback against host Westminster in a PAC match at Harold Burry Stadium.
Westminster (14-5, 6-0 PAC) broke a scoreless tie at 76:11 on James Gross' third goal of the season. The goal came off a Westminster throw-in.
For Grove City (5-10-3 overall), junior goalkeeper Sean Osborne (Manassas, Va./Osbourn) stopped five shots. Westminster out-shot Grove City, 20-10. The Wolverines did have a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks over Westminster, however.
Grove City will wrap up the 2008 regular season Saturday at noon against visiting Geneva. The Wolverines have clinched one of the four spots in next week's PAC Championship Tournament. Westminster is the top seed. Grove City could finish second, third or fourth in the conference's regular season standings. Washington & Jefferson is 2-1-1 in the conference, followed by Thomas More (2-2) and Bethany (1-2-1). Those three teams all have two conference matches remaining this week.
