Wolverines blank Point Park

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team opened the 2009 season Friday evening with a 2-0 victory over visiting Point Park in non-conference action at College Field.

Grove City (1-0) grabbed a 1-0 lead at the 11:53 mark as junior Chuck Witt (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) scored on a bicycle kick after receiving a feed from classmate Daniel Bernal (Tucson, Ariz./Pusch Ridge Christian). It is Witt's first career game-winning goal.

The Wolverines pushed the lead to 2-0 at 69:42 as sophomore Ben Kuniholm (Fairfax, Va./Trinity Christian) scored after collecting a loose ball in front of the goal. It is Kuniholm's first collegiate goal.

In goal, senior Sean Osborne (Manassas, Va./Osbourn) stopped five shots to earn the victory. Osborne now has six career shutouts for Grove City.

The Wolverines owned a 12-9 edge in shots and a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks. It is Grove City's first win in a season opener since 2004.

Grove City will host Cedarville Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. in non-conference action at College Field.
