Wolverines blank Juniata

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team notched its fourth shutout of the 2009 season Tuesday afternoon as the Wolverines (3-5-1) earned a 1-0 win over host Juniata in non-conference action.

Grove City broke a scoreless tie at the 77:59 mark as junior Alex Ford (Bridgeville, Pa./Kiski Prep) scored his first goal of the 2009 season and his second career game-winning goal.

Sophomore Brian Eckenhoff (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) assisted the goal. Eckenhoff now has a team-high three points this year.

Senior goalkeeper Sean Osborne (Manassas, Va./Osbourn) stopped three shots to earn the shutout. Each team had 11 shots. Juniata (5-4) had eight corner kicks while Grove City had seven.

The victory snaps a four-match slide for the Wolverines, who will host Washington & Jefferson Friday at 4 p.m. in each team's Presidents' Athletic Conference opener.
