W&J nips Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team opened Presidents' Athletic Conference play Friday afternoon with a 1-0 home setback against Washington & Jefferson (7-3, 1-0 PAC) at rain-soaked College Field.

W&J broke a scoreless tie at the 81:01 mark as Stephen Bosak scored on a free kick from approximately 20 yards out.

Washington & Jefferson owned a 10-6 edge in shots although Grove City (3-6-1, 0-1) held a 5-4 advantage in the second half. W&J also had a dozen corner kicks while Grove City had four corners.

In goal, senior Sean Osborne (Manassas, Va./Osbourn) made four saves for Grove City. W&J goalkeeper Brandon Kern also stopped four shots.

Grove City will visit Thiel Tuesday at 3 p.m. in conference action.
