Grove City falls at Geneva

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Despite owning a 19-11 edge in shots over host Geneva, the Grove City College men's soccer team fell to 4-7-1 overall Saturday with a 3-0 setback against the Golden Tornadoes in a matchup of Presidents' Athletic Conference members at the Merriman Complex.

Grove City outshot Geneva 10-4 in the second half and the Wolverines also had a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.

However, Geneva jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half. Austin Petrie scored at 5:06 and Jake McCracken added a goal at 26:02. Geneva (8-4) closed the scoring at 61:32 on a goal by Ben Makin.

Senior goalkeeper Sean Osborne (Manassas, Va./Osbourn) stopped two shots Grove City, which had been 4-0-2 in its last six matches against Geneva.

Saturday's match does not count in the conference standings due to Geneva's provisional membership status in NCAA Division III.

Grove City will face Bethany Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. in PAC action.
