Grove City falls in regular season finale

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team wrapped up the 2009 regular season Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 setback against host Westminster in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Memorial Field.

Westminster jumped out to a 1-0 lead at the 7:30 mark of the first half on a goal by Jarred Smeltzer. The Titans then doubled the lead at 15:49 on Shawn Flowers' goal.

Westminster capped the scoring at 83:46 on a goal by Ian Hill.

Westminster owned an 11-8 edge in shots, along with an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks. For Grove City (8-9-1, 3-3 PAC), senior goalkeeper Sean Osborne (Manassas, Va./Osbourn) made three saves.

Grove City will be the fourth seed in next week's PAC Championship Tournament. The Wolverines will play top-seeded Thomas More Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m.
