Allegheny 3, Grove City 1

September 2, 1998--Allegheny scored three first half goals and held on to defeat host Grove City 3-1 in the season opener for both schools.

Nate Smith put the Gators on top with a goal seven minutes into the first half.   Mike Polhamus added a pair before intermission to give Allegheny a 3-0 halftime edge.

Senior Greg Lucht (Erie, PA/Fairview) put the Wolverines on the board with an unassisted goal midway through the second half.  Lucht, one of four returning seniors, was fourth on the team in scoring last season with four goals and one assist.

Grove City hosts Point Park Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
