Wolverines blank Bison

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Juniors Adam Brewer (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) and Brian Eckenhoff (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) each scored twice Saturday afternoon to help lead the Grove City College men's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over visiting Bethany in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at College Field.

Eckenhoff broke a scoreless tie at 36:24 when he headed in his second goal of 2010. Freshman Zach Juergens (Mercer, Pa./Mercer) assisted Eckenhoff's goal.

The Wolverines (10-3-2, 3-1 PAC) then blew the match open with three goals in a six-minute span. Brewer pushed the lead to 2-0 with an unassisted goal at 47:50. He then scored at 50:25 after receiving an assist from Daniel Adams (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands).

Eckenhoff closed the scoring at 53:09 with his second goal of the match. Senior Jake Kern (Fairfield, Pa./Fairfield) assisted Eckenhoff's score.

Freshman goalkeeper Chris Burgan (North Huntingdon, Pa./Trinity Christian) recorded his sixth shutout of the season by making four saves, all in the first half. Grove City owned a 13-9 edge in shots, including 8-1 in the second half. Grove City also had a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.

The Wolverines visit conference foe Waynesburg Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
