The Wolverines erupted with all five goals in the second half, including three in the first 15 minutes. Sophomore Michael Koerber (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) opened the scoring 11 minutes in off a pass from senior Greg Lucht (Erie, PA/Fairview). Freshman Andy Shockey (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) netted a goal three minutes later, assisted by freshman Sam Coffman (Scottdale, PA/Southmoreland). Coffman made it 3-0 with a goal off a pass from Lucht. Sophomore Sean Norris (Sewickley, PA/Quaker Valley) scored the fourth Wolverine goal, assisted by freshman Jon Veschio (Mercer, PA/Mercer). Senior Harold Schreck (Cross Lanes, WV/Nitro) rounded out the scoring off a pass from sophomore Matt Sampogna (Pittsburgh, PA/Keystone Oaks).
Wolverine freshman goalie Mario Ambrosia (Lebanon, PA/Lebanon Catholic) was credited with six saves in the shutout.
Grove City, 6-5 overall, hosts Penn State-Behrend College next Wednesday, October 7, at 4:00 p.m.
