Wolverines blank Muskingum
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team evened its record at 1-1 Saturday by earning a 1-0 win over visiting Muskingum (1-1) at College Field.
Grove City broke a scoreless tie in the first half when freshman Eric Fitchwell (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) scored his first collegiate goal at 30:55. Classmate Jordan Carmichael (Hewitt, N.J./West Milford) assisted Fitchwell's score.
Sophomore goalkeeper Chris Burgan (North Huntingdon, Pa./Trinity Christian) preserved the shutout by stopping five shots. Grove City owned an 11-6 edge in shots, along with a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Grove City will visit Allegheny Tuesday night in non-conference action at 7:30 p.m.
