Allegheny nips Grove City in OT

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at Allegheny Wednesday night in non-conference action at Robertson Field. Allegheny's Tyler Danzey scored on a rebound at 91:58 to break a scoreless tie.

Each team had nine shots in the match. Grove City (0-3) held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks. In goal, freshman Brenden Alfery (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) stopped four shots for Grove City.

Two of Grove City's three setbacks this year have been in overtime. Grove City still leads the all-time series with Allegheny 43-21-5. Allegheny is Grove City's most frequently-played opponent all-time. The series began in 1938.

The match between the teams had been scheduled to be played in Grove City Tuesday. The teams played 3 minutes, 37 seconds before inclement weather stopped the match. Wednesday's match restarted as a full 90-minute regulation match.

Grove City will visit Adrian Friday at 3 p.m. The Wolverines will then host Hilbert Saturday at 3 p.m.
