Baldwin-Wallace nips Wolverines
BEREA, Ohio -- The Grove City College men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at Baldwin-Wallace Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at George Finnie Stadium. Baldwin-Wallace's Ben Deighton scored the eventual game-winner on a rebound at 89:32 to break a 1-1 tie.
After a scoreless first half, Grove City (2-5) took a 1-0 lead at 55:38 when senior forward Andrew Quinn (Damascus, Md./Damascus) headed in a corner kick by senior midfielder Alex Ayer (Farmington, Conn./Farmington).
Baldwin-Wallace (5-1) tied the match at the 58:08 mark when Pat Brennan scored an unassisted goal.
Each team had 10 shots in the match. Baldwin-Wallace had eight corner kicks and Grove City recorded seven. For the Wolverines, freshman goalkeeper Ben Weaver (York, Pa./Dallastown) stopped five shots.
Baldwin-Wallace entered the match ranked fifth in the Great Lakes Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Grove City will host Point Park Friday at 4 p.m. as part of Homecoming Weekend at the College.
