Grove City blanks Point Park

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team pulled out a 1-0 victory over visiting Point Park Friday afternoon at College Field.

Grove City (3-5) broke a scoreless tie at 36:17 when freshman Tim Shackleton (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) scored on a breakaway after a Point Park turnover. It is Shackleton's second goal of the season and first career game-winning goal.

The Wolverines owned a 19-7 edge in shots and also doubled up Point Park in corner kicks, 8-4.

In goal, freshman Brenden Alfery (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) stopped three shots to earn the win for Grove City. NAIA Point Park dropped to 3-4 overall.

Grove City will visit Heidleberg Wednesday in non-conference action at 4 p.m.
