W&J clips Grove City
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team fell to 3-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 conference setback to Washington & Jefferson at Alexandre Stadium.
The Presidents took a 1-0 lead at 23:34 on James Calvert's header into the net. W&J extended its lead 2:41 into the second half on a goal by Brian Hanna.
Grove City (6-8 overall) doubled up W&J in shots, 14-7, and also held an 11-0 edge in corner kicks. In goal, freshman Ben Weaver (York, Pa./Dallastown) stopped three shots.
Grove City will host perennial powerhouse Carnegie Mellon Wednesday at 4 p.m. in non-conference play.
