Grove City drops OT heartbreaker at Frostburg St.

FROSTBURG, Md. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team dropped a heartbreaking 1-0 double-overtime decision in non-conference action at Frostburg State Friday evening.

The Bobcats' Pablo Torrano chased down a loose ball and slotted it past Wolverine goalkeeper Brendan Alfery (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) in the 109th minute to steal the victory.

A Grove City red card late in the first overtime period proved to be critical, as Frostburg State used the man advantage to outshoot the Wolverines 7-1 in the second overtime, including 2-0 on goal.

Grove City had opportunities during regulation, outshooting the Bobcats 18-7, including 8-5 on goal. However, the Wolverines couldn't find the back of the net.

Alfery stopped six shots in goal for the Wolverines.

Grove City (0-1) has a quick turnaround, facing Buffalo State Saturday at noon in Frostburg.
