Wolverines rally for win at Point Park
PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Freshman Frank Hueber (Philadelphia, Pa./Calvary Christian) picked a good time to score the first goal of his collegiate career, netting the game-winner in the 85th minute as the Grove City College men's soccer team scored two goals in the final eight minutes to rally for a 2-1 non-conference victory at Point Park on Tuesday evening.
Sophomore Seth Loew (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season while senior Brian Wilkes (Richfield, Ohio/CVCA) notched his first assist of the year.
After a scoreless first half, the Pioneers (9-6-1) took the lead in the 64th minute when Jonty Loukes scored on an assist from Romida Nanko.
The score remained 1-0 until the 82nd minute, when Wilkes played a ball into the box and Loew collected and put it in from six yards out to even the score.
Just three minutes later, Hueber scored on a rebound off a corner kick to give the Wolverines (7-5-3) a lead they wouldn't relenquish.
Senior Chris Burgan (North Huntingdon, Pa./Trinity Christian) played a complete game in goal and made eight saves.
The Wolverines resume their Presidents' Athletic Conference schedule when they travel to Westminster for a 12:00 p.m. contest on Saturday.
