Grove City earns tie at Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team moved to 3-1-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Saturday afternoon by battling host Westminster to a 1-1 draw at Memorial Field.

Grove City (7-5-4 overall) grabbed a 1-0 lead at 26:57 when sophomore forward Seth Loew (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) scored an unassisted goal, breaking the scoreless tie. Loew leads Grove City with nine goals this season.

Westminster (7-8-3, 2-2-3 PAC) knotted the match at the 46:59 mark when Austin Ewers headed in a feed from Richard Beaudoin.

Grove City outshot Westminster 16-10 for the match. Westminster had two corner kicks and Grove City had one corner. In goal, sophomore Brenden Alfery (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) made five saves for the Wolverines.

Nine of Grove City's 16 matches this season have gone to overtime. Dating back to last year, 12 of the Wolverines' last 21 matches have gone beyond regulation.

Grove City will host conference foe Saint Vincent Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
