Loew Player of the Year; Four Wolverines All-PAC

GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Junior forward Seth Loew (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) was named the 2014 Presidents' Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Year and he and three other members of the Grove City College men's soccer team were named to the All-PAC Teams, as selected by the conference coaches and announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.

Loew was joined on the All-PAC First Team by senior defender George DeAugustino (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) while junior midfielder Justin Phillips (Simi Valley, Calif./Oaks Christian) earned Second Team honors and junior forward Tim Shackleton (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) was an Honorable Mention selection.

Loew, now a three-time All-PAC First Team honoree, became the first Grove City men's soccer player to earn Player of the Year honors since Bob McNees did so in 2005 and 2006. Loew led the conference with 10 goals and 29 points while ranking second in the league with nine assists. He also was tops in goals (7), assists (4) and points (18) in league games. Loew's 29 points are the seventh-highest total in program history and also mark the highest offensive output by a Grove City player since McNees recorded 35 in his second MVP season.

Through his junior year, Loew is tied for third in program history with 15 assists, tied for fifth in career points (65) and tied for eighth in career goals (25).

DeAugustino, an All-PAC Second Team selection in 2013, started 19 matches at center back, anchoring a Grove City defense that posted a 1.06 goals against average and recorded eight shutouts. DeAugustino also had a breakout year offensively, netting three goals, including the game-winner in the 87th minute of a 1-0 road victory over rival Geneva.

For his career, DeAugustino played and started in 69 matches, ranking 10th all-time in matches started. He also led the team to 27 shutouts during that period.

Phillips, who earned Honorable Mention a year ago, earned Second Team honors while continuing his reputation as one of the conference's most dominant players in the air. He started 14 games in the midfield after returning from an early-season injury, recording one goal and two assists.

Shackleton garnered his first conference honors after playing in all 21 matches and starting 17 between the midfield and wing positions. He recorded a pair of goals, including the game-winner at Bethany, and was second on the team with four assists.

Grove City finished the 2014 season with a 12-8-1 overall record and a 6-2 record in PAC play. The team advanced to the conference championship match for the first time since 2005 and earned an ECAC Division III South tournament berth for the first time since 2011.
