Wolverines draw with Baldwin Wallace
BEREA, Ohio -- Senior Ben Weaver (York, Pa./Dallastown) stopped nine shots in goal to earn his fourth shutout of the season, but the Grove City College men's soccer team couldn't find the back of the net, playing to its first tie of the season in a 0-0 draw at Baldwin Wallace on Tuesday night at George Finne Stadium.
After owning an 8-5 advantage in shots in the first half, Grove City (5-3-1) was outshot 11-3 in a second half controlled by the host Yellow Jackets (3-6-2). The Wolverines would regain momentum in the overtime, outshooting Baldwin Wallace 7-1 over the two 10-minute frames and putting five of those shots on frame, but Jacket goalkeeper Zach Haynes came up with a save on each Wolverine attempt.
For the match, Grove City held an 18-17 edge in total shots, including an 11-9 advantage in shots on goal. The Wolverines also earned nine corner kicks to eight for the Yellow Jackets.
Grove City opens Presidents' Athletic Conference play on Saturday when they host Geneva at 2 p.m.
