Grove City 3, W&J 1


October 24, 1998--Senior Greg Lucht (Erie, PA/Fairview) scored two goals and assisted on a third as the Grove City College men's soccer team defeated host Washington & Jefferson College to secure second place in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.

The Wolverines, winners of five straight, improved to 11-6 overall and closed its PAC slate at 3-1.

Sophomore Steve Harley (Collegeville, PA/Methacton) opened the scoring off a pass from Lucht.  Lucht gave the Wolverines a 2-1 halftime lead with a goal assisted by freshman Brian Williams (Charlotte, NC/First Assembly).  Sophomore Cory Nordman (New Fairfield, CT/New Fairfield) set up Lucht's second goal which closed out the scoring.   Lucht now boasts a team-best 23 points with eight goals and seven assists.

Grove City plays at Slippery Rock University next Tuesday, October 27, at 3:00 p.m.
