Grove City 2, Pitt-Greensburg 1 (2OT)
September 9, 1998--Senior Harold Schreck's (Cross Lanes, WV/Nitro) goal
at 5:12 of the second overtime off a pass from freshman Andy Shockey (Mechanicsburg,
PA/Cumberland Valley) lifted Grove City to a 2-1 win over visiting Pitt-Greensburg
Wednesday at the College Field. The victory was the Wolverines' first of the season
against two losses, while Pitt-Greensburg, in its first year of intercollegiate soccer,
had its season and all-time record fall to 0-1.
After a scoreless first half, Pitt-Greensburg opened the scoring at 37:04 of the second
half on a goal by Zack Froble. The Wolverines got even at 6:30 of the second on a
goal by sophomore Steve Harley (Collegeville, PA/Methacton), assisted by senior Greg Lucht
(Erie, PA/Fairview).
The Wolverines outshot Pitt-Greensburg, 27-4. Pitt-Greensburg goalie Ben Wilson made
19 saves, while Wolverine freshman net-minder Mario Ambrosia (Lebanon, PA/Lebanon
Catholic) turned back four shots.
Grove City's next game is Saturday, September 12, at Muskingum beginning at noon.
