Four In A Row WAYNESBURG, PA, September 14, 1999--Brian Williams (Charlotte, NC/First Assembly) punctuated Grove City's fourth consecutive victory Tuesday with an overtime goal off a pass from Andrew Costello (Seaford, VA/York) as the Wolverines defeated host Waynesburg 2-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference opener for both schools. After a scoreless first half, Grove City opened the scoring five minutes into the second half on a goal by Cory Nordman (St. Charles, IL/New Fairfield), assisted by Jon Veschio (Mercer, PA/Mercer). Waynesburg tied the game midway though the second stanza, leading to Williams' overtime goal 23 minutes into the extra session. The Wolverines outshot the Yellow Jackets, 21-5. Grove City, now 4-2 overall, has won each of its last four games by a single goal and each of its last two in overtime. Waynesburg fell to 0-4 overall. |
