GCC Falls To Bethany 4-2


GROVE CITY, PA, September 21, 1999--The Wolverine soccer team played its arch-rival Bethany even for 81 minutes Tuesday, but its was the first nine minutes that sent the visiting Bison to a 4-2 victory in a key Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup.

Bethany, winner of the last 19 PAC titles, scored a pair of goals in the eighth and ninth minutes before Grove City answered with an unassisted goal of its own three minutes later off the foot of Steve Harley (Collegeville, PA/Methacton).  The Bison  added a goal at 23:21 to go up 3-1 at the half.

Bethany extended its lead to 4-1 early in the second half, before the Wolverines cut the deficit to two on an unassisted goal by Andrew Shockey (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley).

The Wolverines out-shot the Bison, 12-7.

Grove City fell to 4-3-1 overall, 1-1 in the PAC, while Bethany improved to 5-3 overall, 1-0 in the PAC.
