Wolverines Tame Titans, 2-1 NEW WILMINGTON, PA, October 9, 1999--The Wolverine soccer team jumped a game over .500 Saturday with a 2-1 win over area-rival Westminster College. Andrew Shockey (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) scored both Grove City goals less than five minutes apart. His first goal came in the 29th minute off a pass from Sam Coffman (Scottdale, PA/Southmoreland). In the 34th minute, Tom Salkeld (Columbia, MD/Hammond) set up Shockey's team-high fourth goal of the season to put the Wolverines up 2-0. Westminster tallied its only goal four minutes before intermission. Eric Golz (Wadsworth, OH/Wadsworth) made four saves, as the Wolverines outshot the Titans, 11-5. Grove City improved to 6-5-1 overall. |
