GCC Blanks Lake Erie, 5-0 GROVE CITY, PA, October 21, 1999--Mike Bluman (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle), who netted Monday's game-winner in overtime, added a pair of goals Thursday as the Wolverines extended their winning streak to four with a 5-0 win over visiting Lake Erie College. Grove City improved to 9-5-1, while Lake Erie fell to 6-8-2. Steve Harley (Collegeville, PA/Methacton) opened the scoring with his team-high sixth goal of the season, from Jon Veschio (Mercer, PA/Mercer) in the ninth minute. Four minutes later, Bluman netted his first of two off a pass from Harley (Collegeville, PA/Methacton). Sam Coffman (Scottdale, PA/Southmoreland) tallied his second goal of the year, from Veschio, in the 35th minute to put the Wolverine on top 3-0 at halftime. Bluman recorded his second goal of the game and third of the season off a pass from Adam Seybold (Grove City, PA/Grove City) midway through the second half. Nathan Gilch (Gibsonia, PA/Pine-Richland) rounded out the scoring with his first collegiate goal, assisted by Coffman, with seven minutes left. Eric Golz (Wadsworth, OH/Wadworth) recorded his sixth shutout of the year with four saves. The five goals marked a season-high for the Wolverines. They managed to win eight of their first 14 games with two goals or less. |
