Wolverines Headed To PAC Title Game


BETHANY, WV, November 5, 1999---The Grove City College men's soccer team earned a spot in Saturday's Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship Game with a 2-1 win over Washington & Jefferson College in Friday's tournament semifinals at Bethany College.

Brian Williams (Charlotte, NC/First Assembly) netted the game-winning goal in the 60th minute off a pass from Adam Seybold (Grove City, PA/Grove City), breaking a 1-1 halftime tie.

The Wolverines opened the scoring in the 28th minute on a goal by Cory Nordman (St. Charles, IL/New Fairfield), assisted by Tom Salkeld (Columbia, MD/Hammond).  W&J knotted the game with three minutes left before intermission on its only shot of the first half.

W&J outshot Grove City in the game, 9-8.

Eric Golz (Wadsworth, OH/Wadsworth) was credited with seven saves as the Wolverines improved to 11-6-2 overall.  The Presidents fell to 9-8-1.

Grove City will meet Bethany in the PAC title game Saturday at 12:00.  Bethany, winner of the last 19 conference crowns, advanced with an 8-0 win over Waynesburg College in Friday's other semifinal.  Bethany defeated the Wolverines on September 21 in Grove City, 4-2.
