Grove City seals 50th straight winning season

WASHINGTON, PA, January 13, 2001--The Wolverine swimming and diving team secured its 50th consecutive winning season Saturday, defeating league-rival Washington & Jefferson, 123-86, in Washington.

Senior Steve Johnston (North Wales, PA/North Penn) swam away with three first-place finishes, including wins in the 100-yard freestyle (:50.13) and 200 individual medley (2:06.86). Johnston also anchored the winning 400 medley relay (3:50.27), joined by sophomore Bob Young (Glenshaw, PA/Shaler), freshman Tom Carey (Fairview Park, OH.St. Edwards) and freshman Drew Martin (Monroeville, PA/Gateway).

Freshman diver Steve Short (Sewickley, PA/North Hills) collected the most points on both the one-meter (180.90) and three-meter boards (161.35).

Grove City improved to 6-1 overall, 2-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
