Wolverines drop dual meet at W&L

LEXINGTON, VA, January 14, 2002--The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team posted three 1-2 finishes, but host Washington & Lee University emerged a 113-92 winner Monday night in Lexington, Va.

The Wolverines (2-3) opened the meet by winning the 200-yard medley relay as the team of Bob Young (Glenshaw, PA/Shaler), Felix Mason (Charlotte, NC), Drew Martin (Monroeville, PA/Gateway) and Matt Gibson (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) touched out the Generals in 1:42.64.

Mason and Matt Mangen (Celina, OH/Celina) posted a 1-2 finish in the 200 individual medley, finishing in 2:08.16 and 2:08.77, respectively. Young won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:03.08 and was followed by Mangen, who touched in 2:05.00. Mason took first in the 200 breaststroke in 2:22.44 and Tom Carey (Fairview Park, OH/St. Edwards) placed second in 2:27.31.
