CMU downs Grove City in dual-meet opener
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team dropped a 126-84 decision to visiting Carnegie Mellon (3-0) in Grove City's dual-meet opener Friday night at the Grove City College Pool.
Jason Amos (Westminster, Md./Carroll Christian) and Drew McKelvy (Portersville, Pa./Jubilee Christian) each earned runner-up finishes for Grove City. Amos took second in the 200 backstroke in 2:08.25 while McKelvy placed second in the 100 freestyle in 50.13 seconds.
Joel Boerckel (East Moline, Ill./United Township) placed third in the 200 backstroke in 2:08.57 while Matt Trollinger (Damascus, Md./New Life Christian) earned third in the 200 butterfly with a time 2:15.97.
Mike Shantz (Stafford, Va./North Stafford) placed second in the 1-meter diving.
Grove City returns to action Saturday at Frostburg State for a double-dual meet with Frostburg State and Division II West Virginia Wesleyan.
