Grove City rolls past Bethany in PAC action

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team improved to 3-2 Tuesday night with a 109-93 victory over Bethany in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at the Grove City College Pool.

Freshmen Jeff Wenger (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) and Luke Wiedeman (Beltsville, Md./Cedar Brook) each picked up individual wins and also contributed to Grove City's victorious 200 medley relay effort. Wenger won the 200 individual medley (2:13.65) while Wiedeman earned first in the 50 free (23.89 seconds).

Wenger, Wiedeman, freshman Jason Amos (Westminster, Md./Carroll Christian) and rookie Dan Reese (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay in 1:45.93.

Also for Grove City, senior Rich Korb (Belcamp, Md./John Carroll) won the 1000 free (10:38.79) while Jeremy Roberts (Butler, Pa./Knoch) took first in the 200 free (1:54.73). Senior Matt Gibson (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) won the 100 free (50.98), helping Grove City even its PAC record at 1-1. 

Bethany fell to 0-2 overall, 0-1 in the PAC. Grove City returns to action Jan. 15 at Mount Union.
