Grove City opens 2005 with PAC win

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team won its fourth straight dual meet Saturday, earning a 119-95 win over host Washington and Jefferson at the Henry Memorial Center in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.

Freshman Caleb Courage (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) won both the 50 (21.65 seconds) and 100 free (47.99) races while freshman Emmanuel Butmankiewicz (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Westminster Academy) won the 200 free in 1:55.83. Another freshman, Jeremy Harbaugh (South Park, Pa./South Park), won the 500 in 5:08.60 while sophomore Luke Wiedeman (Beltsville, Md./Cedar Brook) completed Grove City's sweep of the freestyle races by taking the 1000 (10:55.78).

Junior Joel Boerckel (East Moline, Ill./United Township) won the 100 backstroke in 57.67 seconds while freshman Chris Scharf (Springville, N.Y./Springville-Griffith) won 1-meter diving with 161.55 points.

Grove City (4-1, 2-0) will visit Wooster next Saturday, January 22.
