Wolverines top The Rock
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team improved to 3-3 Tuesday night with a 113-81 victory over visiting Slippery Rock at the Grove City College Pool.
Senior Ben Haring (Kenai, Alaska/Kenai Central) earned a pair of wins for the Wolverines, winning the 100 free (49.77 seconds) and the 200 individual medley (2:06.72). Freshman Nate Brunk (Wyncote, Pa./Cheltenham) won the 1000 in 11:31.02 while classmate Mark Barron (Coraopolis, Pa./Montour) won the 200 free in 1:50.79.
Freshman Drew Snyder (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) won the 50 free in 22.36 seconds while sophomore Caleb Courage (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) won the 100 butterfly in 53.93 seconds. Courage, senior Joel Boerckel (East Moline, Ill./United Township), sophomore Albert Cheung (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) and senior Matt Ziders (Moon Township, Pa./Moon) won the 200 medley relay in 1:42.76.
Sophomore diver Joe Riddell (Osny, France/Paul-Emil Victor) won 1-meter diving with 174.00 points.
Tuesday night was the first time Grove City competed against Division II Slippery Rock since 1987. Grove City returns to action Dec. 2-3 as the Wolverines host the James Longnecker Invitational.
