Grove City clinches 55th straight winning season

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team clinched its 55th straight winning season Saturday with a 127-101 victory over Wooster Saturday afternoon in a non-conference dual meet in the Grove City College Pool. The Wolverines are now 7-4 overall with two meets left this season.

In addition to sweeping the relays, eight different Grove City swimmers reached the finish first on Saturday. Freshman Mark Barron (Coraopolis, Pa./Montour) won the 200 free in 1 minute, 47.97 seconds while sophomore Caleb Courage (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) took first in the 50 free (21.17).

Freshman Chad Toth (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Christian) won the 400 individual medley (4:34.34) while freshman Drew Snyder (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) prevailed in the 100 free with a time of 48.62. Senior Joel Boerckel (East Moline, Ill./United Township) won the 100 back (56.42) while senior Jeremiah Roberts (Butler, Pa./Knoch) won the 500 free in 5:05.71.  Freshman Tim Whitbeck (Saegertown, Pa./Saegertown) closed the individual events by touching first in the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.92.

Sophomore Joe Riddell (Osny, France/Paul-Emil Victor) won 1-meter diving with 204.90 points.

Grove City will visit Penn State Behrend Friday evening in non-conference action.
