Grove City wins 11th straight
WOOSTER, Ohio -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team improved to 12-1 overall Saturday afternoon with a 164-134 victory over host Wooster in a non-conference dual meet at Timken Natatorium. It is Grove City's 11th straight win.
Junior Caleb Courage (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) earned a pair of individual victories and also helped both of Grove City's relay teams to victory. Courage won the 50 free in 21.31 seconds. He also captured the 100 free in 47.01. Courage, senior Andrew Gilbert (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga), sophomore Peter Larsen (Federal Way, Wash./Tacoma Baptist) and sophomore Tim Whitbeck (Saegertown, Pa./Saegertown) opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay in 1:39.03.
Whitbeck, Courage, sophomore Mitch Young (Greeley, Colo./Greeley West) and sophomore Drew Snyder (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) closed the meet by winning the 200 free relay in 1:26.57.
Peter Larsen also won the 200 individual medley (2:03.84) while freshman Lincoln Larsen (Federal Way, Wash./Tacoma Baptist) touched first in the 200 breaststroke (2:17.48). Sophomore Mark Barron (Coraopolis, Pa./Montour) won the 200 free in 1:49.10.
Junior Joe Riddell (Osny, France/Paul-Emil Victor) swept the diving events for Grove City. Riddell won the 1-meter competition with 269.75 points. He then won 3-meter diving with 209.20 points.
Grove City will close the home portion of the 2006-2007 regular season Friday night against Pitt-Bradford and Penn State Behrend at 6 p.m.
