Wolverines cap regular season with win

CALIFORNIA, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team wrapped up the dual-meet segment of the 2006-2007 season Saturday afternoon with a 116-92 victory over NCAA Division II member Fairmont State (W. Va.) at California University of Pennsylvania. Grove City finishes the regular season with a 15-1 record. The 15 wins are a single-season program record.

Sophomore Tim Whitbeck (Saegertown, Pa./Saegertown) earned a pair of individual wins for Grove City. Whitbeck won the 50 free in 21.28 seconds, then added a win in the 100 free (49.26). Freshman Chip Cressman (Marriottsville, Md./Homeschooled) captured the 1000 in 10:14.60 while classmate Tucker Gregg (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) earned victory in the 100 backstroke (59.29).

Senior Luke Wiedeman (Beltsville, Md./Cedar Brook) won the 200 free in 1:52.80 while senior Andrew Gilbert (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) took the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.20. Gregg, Gilbert, Whitbeck and sophomore Peter Larsen (Federal Way, Wash./Tacoma Baptist) opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay in 1:40.23.

Grove City will host the Grove City College Invitational/Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships Feb. 8-10.
