Wolverines roll past Allegheny

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team won its fifth straight dual meet Tuesday night, rolling to a 159-113 victory over host Allegheny in non-conference action at Mellon Pool. Grove City is now 5-1 on the season.

Three Grove City swimmers posted a pair of individual victories Tuesday night. Freshman Nate Nielsen (Houston, Texas/Lutheran South) won the 1000 in 10 minutes, 36.49 seconds. He then won the 200 backstroke in 2:08.77.

Junior Peter Larsen (Federal Way, Wash./Tacoma Baptist) won the 100 free in 48.37, then touched first in the 200 individual medley (2:02.70). Meanwhile, sophomore Lincoln Larsen (Federal Way, Wash./Tacoma Baptist) swept the breaststroke events. He took first in the 100 with a time of 1:03.76. Lincoln Larsen then won the 200 breaststroke in 2:19.07.

Five other Grove City swimmers also picked up wins Tuesday night. Junior Drew Snyder (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) won the 200 free in 1:51.37 while sophomore Rich Albertson (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) captured the 200 butterfly (2:03.60). Sophomore Tucker Gregg (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) won the 100 back in 58.44 while junior Tim Whitbeck (Saegertown, Pa./Saegertown) took the 50 (21.33).

Senior Nick Barker (Centreville, Md./Queen Anne's County) won the 100 butterfly in 55.94 seconds.

Freshman Cam Coppelli (Saegertown, Pa./Saegertown), Lincoln Larsen, Snyder and freshman Chris Marasco (Washington, Pa./Washington) opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay in 1:42.06. Albertson, Peter Larsen, Snyder and senior Jeremy Harbaugh (South Park, Pa./South Park) sealed the victory by winning the 800 free relay in 7:34.57.

Grove City will host the annual James E. Longnecker Invitational November 30-December 1 at the Grove City College Pool.
