Grove City improves to 10-3

ERIE, Pa. -- Sophomore Richard Albertson (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) earned three individual victories Friday night, helping the Grove City College men's swimming and diving team sweep a non-conference double dual at Penn State Behrend. Grove City (10-3 overall) topped Behrend, 86-53, and also notched a 122-14 triumph over Pitt-Bradford.

Albertson swept the backstroke races and also won the 200 individual medley. Albertson won the 100 back in 56.89 seconds, then won the 200 back in 2:03.17. He then won the 200 IM in 2:08.42.

Freshman Dan Gummel (Springfield, Ohio/Emmanuel Christian) won the 50 in 22.75 seconds while freshman Jared Bailey (Portsmouth, R.I./Aquidneck Island Christian) took first in the 1650 (18:16.53). Sophomore Seth Zimmerman (Somerset, Pa./Somerset) won the 100 free in 50.76 seconds. 

Bailey, Zimmerman, senior Tyler May (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) and freshman Nate Nielsen (Houston, Texas/Lutheran South) closed the meet by winning the 400 free relay in 3:23.83.

Senior Joe Riddell (Osny, France/Paul-Emil Victor) swept the diving events. Riddell won 1-meter diving with 237.35 points, then won 3-meter diving with 222.60 points.

The 2007-08 season is the 18th time that Grove City has reached double-digit wins in program history. Grove City's 25 dual-meet wins over the last two years represents the highest two-season win total in program history. The Wolverines have also accumulated 57 consecutive winning seasons.

Grove City concludes the regular season Saturday afternoon against Wooster at 1 p.m.
