Wolverines top Wooster to finish 11-3

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team wrapped up the 2007-08 regular season with a 171-128 victory over visiting Wooster Saturday afternoon at the Grove City College Pool. The Wolverines are now 11-3.

Junior Peter Larsen (Federal Way, Wash./Tacoma Baptist) earned a pair of individual victories for Grove City while five other Wolverines also posted wins. Larsen won the 100 free in 47.82 seconds, then won the 200 individual medley in 2:02.78.

Junior Tim Whitbeck (Saegertown, Pa./Saegertown) won the 50 in 21.00 seconds while freshman Nate Nielsen (Houston, Texas/Lutheran South) won the 500 (4:58.67). Sophomore Lincoln Larsen (Federal Way, Wash./Tacoma Baptist) touched first the 200 breaststroke with a victorious mark of 2:16.40.

Grove City also swept both diving events Saturday. Senior Joe Riddell (Osny, France/Paul-Emil Victor) won on the 1-meter board with 261.20 points while sophomore Kyle Grubbs (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) took first in 3-meter diving with 233.15 points.

Lincoln Larsen, Peter Larsen, Whitbeck and sophomore Tucker Gregg (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) opened Saturday's meet by winning the 200 medley relay in 1:37.65.

Grove City returns to action Feb. 14-16 when the Wolverines host the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships in conjunction with the Grove City Invitational.
