Whitbeck earns national award

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Grove City College junior swimmer Tim Whitbeck (Saegertown, Pa./Saegertown) earned CollegeSwimming.com's Division III National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week award Friday afternoon for his efforts Nov. 16-17.

Whitbeck helped Grove City to a 4-0 dual-meet record during those two days of competition. Whitbeck contributed to two wins in Grove City's 123-100 win at Saint Vincent November 16. He won the 50 free in 20.89 seconds and also swam a leg of Grove City's victorious 400 medley relay (3:41.54).

The next day, Whitbeck helped Grove City sweep a quadrangular meet against Case Western, Kenyon and Washington & Jefferson. He won both the 50 (20.93) and 100 free (47.66) before helping Grove City clinch the sweep by contributing to the victorious 200 free relay team (1:26.98).

Whitbeck earned Presidents' Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week Nov. 19. He is a six-time NCAA Division III All-American and the defending NCAA champion in the 50 free.
