Wolverines top Bearcats
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team improved to 2-1 overall Friday evening with a 160-108 triumph over visiting Saint Vincent in a clash of Presidents' Athletic Conference members. It is Grove City's second straight win.
Junior Lincoln Larsen (Federal Way, Wash./Tacoma Baptist) and sophomore Jared Bailey (Portsmouth, R.I./Aquidneck Island Christian) both recorded two individual wins for the Wolverines. Larsen won the 100 breaststroke in 1 minute, 2.10 seconds. He then won the 500 in 5:14.81.
Bailey won both the 100 and 200 free. He won the 100 free in 51.37 seconds and took the 200 free in 1:50.51.
Freshman Clay Beckner (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) won the 100 backstroke (55.42) while freshman Ben Bowser (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) won the 200 fly in 2:00.53. Senior Peter Larsen (Federal Way, Wash./Tacoma Baptist) took first in the 50 free (22.36) while sophomore Cam Coppelli (Guys Mills, Pa./Saegertown) captured first in the 200 backstroke in 1:58.25.
Sophomore Bennett Keefer (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) won the 200 breaststroke in 2:20.13. Freshman Joe Rzempoluch (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) won 1-meter diving with 197.75 points.
The Wolverines opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay. The quartet of senior Caleb Courage (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg), senior Tim Whitbeck (Saegertown, Pa./Saegertown), sophomore Chris Marasco (Washington, Pa./Washington) and senior Drew Snyder (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) recorded a time of 1:37.12 to open the meet with a win.
Grove City will compete in the Case Western Quad Saturday at 1 p.m. in Cleveland.
