Grove City rolls past Allegheny
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team improved to 6-1 overall Tuesday night with a 152-127 victory over visiting Allegheny in non-conference action at the Grove City College Pool. Grove City finished 1-2 in every event and exhibitioned in the final six races.
Sophomore Cam Coppelli (Guys Mills, Pa./Saegertown) and senior Caleb Courage (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) both earned two individual victories for Grove City Tuesday night. Coppelli won the 100 backstroke in 54.31 seconds, then won the 200 back in 1:58.42. Courage, meanwhile, won the 100 free in 46.88 and also notched a win in the 200 free (1:45.77).
Senior Drew Snyder (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) won the 50 free in 21.84 seconds while sophomore Nate Nielsen (Houston, Texas/Lutheran South) won the 1000 (10:14.23). Junior Lincoln Larsen (Federal Way, Wash./Tacoma Baptist) won the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.17 while classmate Richard Albertson (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) touched first in the 200 butterfly (2:03.94).
Coppelli, sophomore Bennett Keefer (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville), freshman Kirk Gagliardo (Wadsworth, Ill./Warren Township) and senior Peter Larsen (Federal Way, Wash./Tacoma Baptist) opened the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay (1:38.50).
Junior Kyle Grubbs (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) won 1-meter diving with 188.85 points. He posted an identical winning score in 3-meter diving while competing as an exhibition entry.
Grove City will host the Longnecker Invitational Dec. 5-6.
