Wolverines thump Wooster

WOOSTER, Ohio -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team improved to 7-2 overall Saturday afternoon by earning a 150-133 win at Wooster in a non-conference dual meet.

Senior Cam Coppelli (Guys Mills, Pa./Saegertown) and junior Josh Kim (Frederick, Md./New Life Christian) both earned two individual wins. Coppelli swept the backstroke events, winning the 100 in 54.49 seconds and then taking the 200 backstroke in 1:58.77.

Kim won the 200 free in 1:50.22, then posted a winning time of 2:05.07 to capture the 200 butterfly.

Senior Dan Gummel (Springfield, Ohio/Emmanuel Christian) won the 50 free in 22.03 while senior Nate Nielsen (Houston, Texas/Lutheran South) took first in the 100 free (49.65). Freshman Noah Walker (Lexington, Ky./Homeschooled) won the 1000 (10:52.24) and junior Ben Bowser (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) prevailed in the 500 free (5:00.61). Bowser also touched first in the 200 individual medley with an exhibition time of 1:59.41.

Grove City will host Presidents' Athletic Conference archrival Westminster Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the James E. Longnecker Competition Pool.
