Wolverines go 1-2 at Case
CLEVELAND -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team went 1-2 at the Case Western Reserve Quad Saturday afternoon at the Veale Center. Grove City earned a 177-111 win over Division II Gannon while dropping decisions to Case (203-98) and Kenyon (158-131).
Senior Kirk Gagliardo (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) earned two victories for the Wolverines. He won the 50 free in 21.26 seconds, then took first in the 100 free with a victorious time of 47.15.
Junior Eric Fairchild (Corry, Pa./Corry) earned second to Gagliardo in the 100 free with a time of 48.06. Senior Ben Bowser (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) recorded two runner-up finishes. He took second in the 200 butterfly (2:00.53) and then placed second in the 200 individual medley (1:59.10).
Grove City will host its annual Winter Invitational December 2-3 in the James E. Longnecker Invitational. Several Wolverine swimmers will also compete in the Kenyon College Total Performance Invitational that same weekend.
