Grove City 2nd after first night

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team is in second place after the first night of action at Grove City's Winter Invitational in the James E. Longnecker Pool. Grove City earned 230 points Friday night and trails only Misericordia, which has 295 points.

Sophomore Noah Walker (Lexington, Ky./Homeschooled) led Grove City by taking second in the 500 free with a time of 5 minutes, 0.73 seconds. Freshman Karter Gagliardo (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) earned third in the 50 free (22.42) and classmate Grant Wilt (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) placed fifth in the 200 individual medley with a 2:12.00 clocking.

Freshman diver Richie Klimek (Oakdale, Pa./South Fayette) earned third on the 1-meter board with 188.40 points.

Grove City's two relay squads also posted notable finishes. Gagliardo, Klimek, freshman Jim Bossert (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) and freshman Caleb McKusick (Waconia, Minn./Homeschooled) took third in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:29.94. Bossert, senior Matt Mahan (Butler, Pa./Knoch), freshman Ben Satre (Hockessin, Del./Homeschooled) and McKusick took fourth in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:48.20.

Saturday's action will begin at 10 a.m.
